Today's bit of Barcelona

So I was walking around in Barcelona, in the Bario Gótico one day, and I happened upon a curious sight. A priest is blessing a man kneeling before him, with two people watching and another priest coming from the background. A moment of silent worship - OR DARKROOM SEX PARTY? The group of men in this statue seem to be involved in something very fishy indeed... We see the curious position of the man leaning into the priest to get a better look at what was going on... and the man on the right not sure whether to join the action or watch from a distance... And another priest just coming up the steps behind him to check out the action...

So that makes me wonder - how old is the darkroom phenomenon anyway? And was it ever made timeless by artists like this? Sure, to an untrained eye it could pass as something completely ordinary - but to the ones who are in on the secret...? You know, there had to be something going on behind those seminary walls before they invented video that causes scandals these days. I'm sure the sex scandals we see today were just as common in the past, except there was no device able to capture and document the sins as they took place. Maybe this statue was the artist's way of shooting a porn video to commemorate a particularly hot sex party in St. George's last Sunday, a kind of 18th century "St. Polten record" Looks like the Church really is the world's biggest and oldest gay club...
